The Captain’s Cup was held on Wednesday 16th December and was enjoyed by 48 members. This was a “fun” event with the players invited to dress in Christmas attire by Captain Keith Hamilton and there were some fine “sights”. The format of the competition saw each member of the triples team play 6 ends in each position, lead, two and Skip. This can be quite daunting to our newer players, but from what I saw they performed really well, which is really encouraging for the future of our Club.

After the three matches, just two teams gained the maximum 6 points, so the overall winners had to be decided on shot difference. The team of Dee Hamilton, Mark Ivory and Grahan Fenton had a shot difference of 16, while the winning team of John North, Iris Lees and Dick Baron had a shot difference of 26. The winners had got off to a fantastic start by winning their first match 18-0.

The Captain’s Cup was also a way of generating more funds towards the Captain’s Charity, which is Cancer Care of Javea, and the amount so far collected is in excess of 400 euros.

Our Captain thanked our Members for supporting the Competition and applauded Jan & Alan Phillips on another well organised event.
