Carol and Dudley clinch gripping Premier 20 win!

Carol and Dudley Davies sealed a dramatic Javea Green win in the Premier 20 knockout competition yesterday. Needing to win the last end of their pairs match at County Bowls, Carol and Dudley held their nerve and won the end by 3 shots, meaning Javea clinched the match on shot difference.

At Country Bowls, Vee got Javea off to a great start, winning a tense singles match 21 v 18, this was followed by an impressive 21 v 16 win for the rinks team of Alex, Mike, Dave Dickinson and Dave Gardiner.

Unfortunately the triples team of Nige, Richard and skip Trefor had a bad day and despite scoring on 7 ends, they suffered a heavy 28 v 9 defeat.

In the final away game the pairs team of Carol and Dudley lost 18 v 17, but more importantly they secured the overall match on the last end.

At Javea Green Alan got the team off to a great start, with a comfortable 21 v 8 win over the Country Bowls Captain.

In the pairs, Dee and Jeff had a very tight game and after 15 ends it was 12 all, however Country Bowls secured a much needed win, by winning each of the last 3 ends.

In the triples birthday boy Greg led Brenda and Christina to an impressive 24 v 11 win and alongside Alan’s excellent shot difference, this result was pivotal.

The rinks team suffered 2 late withdrawals, so with the loss of the experienced Maria and John, this was always going to be a difficult match, that said Betty, Colin, Jan and skip Keith after a difficult start, fought hard and limited the damage to a 22 v 14 defeat.

Well done Javea Green and especially our new bowlers, Richard, Mike and Jeff👏😀
